THE BIRTH OF THE KING
Today Christians celebrate the birth of Jesus
of Nazareth, the event prophets of old and angels alike longed to witness. The night He was born the heavens rejoiced and
shepherds were amazed at the spectacle in the skies above the fields where they
watched over their flocks.
The wonder of what theologians call the ‘Hypostatic
Union”, God becoming man, can only be imagined in the finite mind of man, but
the reality of that event changed the course of human history eternally.
He was born in the humblest of circumstances
within the confines of a barn. Though He was truly a King worthy to be born in
any palace with throngs of servants and loud exuberant royal birth announcements,
His birth in a stable was where He had to be born because He was much more than
King. He was destined to be the redeemer of mankind. He was a sacrificial “Lamb”
that would go beyond the covering of man’s sins like the lambs offered by the
priests on the Day of Atonement. His sinless blood would remove man’s sins from
them as far as the East is from the West.
We must remember that though He was born a
man He did not remain a baby. He grew into the King He was destined to be and
when He returns He will not be wrapped in swaddling cloth, He will be wearing
the Royal Robe of the King of kings and Lord of lords. He was born in humility
but will return as the conquering King with fire in His eyes and a sword in His
hand bringing freedom for the faithful and judgment to the wicked.
As you reflect on the birth of our savior
today be thankful for the blessing His birth has given us but rejoice and
celebrate the promise of His return as the Conquering KING of kings and Lord of
lords.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL; AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY
KING JESUS! COME QUICKLY!
